Colorado Trail Run Series organizers have named Peter Maksimow the new race director, succeeding Arnold Soliman in the role. The organization managing the famed XTERRA Colorado Trail Run Series returns this summer with what a series of three races on Sunday, August 4 in Phillip S. Miller Park, Castle Rock, CO, September 22 in Cheyenne Mountain State Park, Colorado Springs, CO and October 20 in Red Mountain trails, Glenwood Springs, CO.

Soliman, remarked, "I'm excited to continue to work on the XTERRA Colorado Trail Run Series as the operating director not only because it attracts acclaimed national and international runners but also because the series is distinguished for its inclusivity to all participants and its environmentally-conscious practices. We are the one of the first races in the country to go completely cup-less at the courses. For every 300 runners we usually only have one trash bag going into the landfill, minimizing our ecological footprint by advocating responsible use of man-made resources. We also use reusable flags for markings which is something no other race series that I'm aware of regularly practices."

Maksimow has been the designer and course manager of the XTERRA Colorado Trail Run Series races for the past two years, managing course at Phillip S. Miller Park in Castle Rock, Golden Gate State Park near Golden and now Glenwood Springs. He is an elite mountain, trail and ultra runner and member of the silver medal-winning US team at the 2015 World Long Distance Mountain Running Championships in Zermatt, Switzerland. Maksimow said, "I'm excited to continue to work on XTERRA Colorado Trail Run Series initiatives that are inclusive to all participants, including women's participation rates (which have been 60% compared to males participation rates since 2016) and involve environmental-conscious practices, such as our cup-free events."

"I have enjoyed bringing the trail running communities from Denver, Castle Rock, the Pikes Peak Region, Boulder, Golden and other areas together to showcase the incredible trails we have available up and down the Front Range, continued Maksimow. "And I look forward to continuing to be part of that. Plus, I have some other interesting things planned!"

Maksimow is known for his distinguishing facial hair, work with the American Trail Running Association and the Barr Trail Mountain Race, coaching of local runners, interest in craft beer, environmental initiatives like plogging and many others wild adventures.
